What this is. An automated tracker of published coverage of BHP — operations, projects, results, litigation, regulation, safety, environment, community relations, people and strategy. It sweeps news, legal press and public court sources each weekday morning, including the Find Case Law party feed for BHP. Every item links to its source.

Scope. BHP the company. Not captured: the wrong BHP (brake horsepower, behavioural health providers), sector and commodity pieces that name BHP without reporting anything about it, and passing mentions. Nothing published before 1 July 2024 is included.

How to read it. Significant marks the items a lawyer would want to know about today — litigation, regulatory action, transactions, major approvals, incidents, industrial disputes, results and board changes. Mariana marks the Fundão dam collapse and the proceedings arising from it, which is what this tracker was originally built for. Summaries are generated automatically from the text of each item. Where a page published little extractable text the item is marked short extract, meaning the summary rests on a fragment and the detail should be checked against the source. Items marked needs review could not be assessed automatically and nobody has checked them.

One thing to watch on Mariana. Two separate appeals were decided in 2026 and coverage conflates them. The March ruling ended contempt proceedings and BHP won it; headlines called that "BHP wins UK appeal ending case". The May ruling refused BHP permission to appeal the liability finding, which stands. The claim is live, and the Stage 2 quantum trial was listed from 5–6 October 2026.
